What is EESP?

Enhanced Emergency Shelter Program (EESP)

  • Operated by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, EESP is designed to prevent homelessness and secure and maintain housing for Transition Age Youth (TAY), with priority given to those currently or formerly in the foster care or probation systems.
  • EESP offers a 60-day temporary shelter for TAY (aged 18 to 24 years) who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in LA County, experiencing mental health issues, willing to seek mental health treatment, and no income or low income and unable to pay for housing.
