What is CalWorks?
California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) Program
- CalWORKs is a state welfare program with special initiatives serving the homeless in all 58 counties in California.
- Operated by the LA County Department of Public Social Services, it helps eligible families receive short-term or ongoing assistance with housing, food, utilities, clothing, or medical care.
- Families experiencing or at risk for homelessness may also qualify for a variety of housing-related supportive services, including rental assistance, case management, security deposits, utility payments, moving costs, interim shelter assistance, legal services, and credit repair.
